50 years of Osnabrück University
In 2024, Osnabrück University celebrated its 50th birthday. This special occasion was celebrated with a colorful and diverse program to which the general public was also invited. Many exciting details and all information about the activities can be found on the anniversary website: www.uos.de/50jahre
The Osnabrück Peace Talks accompanied the university anniversary with various events in which they focused in particular on the importance of free research and science as a central pillar of our democracy. This focus also brought another birthday into view: The 75th anniversary of our Basic Law. A wonderful opportunity to focus on key elements of our liberal democratic society, including freedom of research and the right to education.

Solidarity with Ukraine
The Osnabrück Peace Forum is deeply shocked and stunned by Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. This reprehensible violation of international law represents a turning point that we did not think possible. Our solidarity and sympathy go out to the people of Ukraine. Our thoughts are with them!
In order to scientifically classify the situation and shed light on the events and consequences, a special peace talk on the war in Ukraine took place as a livestream on March 7, 2022 at 6 pm.
