| The concert series »musica pro pace«
presents musical compositions with themes relating to the destructive
nature of war and human aspirations for peace. The series has
attracted much attention among music enthusiasts and experts.
Both national and foreign radio stations have recorded and aired
various concerts. Several of the works, often rare and highly
innovative, had either been previously overlooked or simply
unknown before their performance within the »musica pro pace«
series The bulk of the series' repertoire is focused on the
twentieth century. But important works from both the Renaissance
and the Baroque periods are also given a place in the »musica
pro pace« catalogue. The concerts present a wonderful opportunity
for the audience to connect with music in new ways that can
inspire and enrich their personal lives. The concert series
was founded to mark the »Osnabrück Day of Peace«, an annual
event commemorating the proclamation of the 1648 Westphalian
Peace, taking place every 25 October on the steps of city hall.
Since its beginning the series has been an integral part of
the Peace Forum. Apl. Prof. Dr. Stefan Hanheide is responsible
for the series' programming. |
