\n\n\n\nAnti-Semitism has become acceptable again in Germany, even commonplace. It is no longer just the internet hate comments of a few rabble-rousers who “rant” about biological pests, demonic perpetrators of the pandemic and the climate crisis. As various studies in recent years have shown, anti-Semitic ideas are spreading in Germany and anti-Semitic conspiracy myths and Holocaust relativizations are on the rise in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. According to a recent survey by the World Jewish Congress, one in five adult Germans hold anti-Semitic views, the proportion is even higher among young people and knowledge about the Holocaust is increasingly declining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How can this alarming development be counteracted? Do we need stricter laws and more consistent prosecution of criminal offenses? Or can anti-Semitism be countered with enlightenment, politics, education and the development of the beauty of Judaism?
