Artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, the technology of the future, will permanently change our society and the world of work. The digital transformation holds great potential, particularly in the care sector, which has long been characterized by a state of emergency – exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic – and is facing enormous challenges. At the same time, however, there are also many reservations and fears. The use of AI and technical artefacts raises important medical ethical and legal questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can the future of care look like and what opportunities, but also limits, does the use of AI offer? Can technological achievements such as care robots be an answer to the growing shortage of nursing staff in times of demographic change? Are they the solution to freeing up nursing staff for social interaction or do they reduce human emotional contact with patients? Do algorithms guarantee fairer care regardless of origin and social status? How can privacy be protected in the face of the risk of commercialization of health-related data?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
