Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has shaken Europe to the core. It represents a turning point that previously seemed unimaginable and the global impact is becoming increasingly apparent. Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been inflicting violence and suffering on Ukraine and threatening to use nuclear weapons. This breach of international law is not only an attack on a self-determined country, but also on the security structure in Europe and our world order. What can a new peace order look like after the war in Ukraine? How can peace succeed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Dr. Julian Nida-R\u00fcmelin took a look at the geopolitical context of the war and spoke about the prospects for a peaceful world order under the title Securing Peace after the Turning Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Julian Nida-R\u00fcmelin, former Minister of State, is considered one of the outstanding intellectuals of our time. The philosopher and author teaches at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and is an honorary professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He is Director of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation and Rector of the newly founded Humanistische Hochschule Berlin. He specializes in decision and rationality theory, theoretical and applied ethics, political philosophy and epistemology. He was President of the German Society for Philosophy and is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities as well as the German Ethics Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
