The annual series of events of the Osnabr\u00fcck Peace Forum is summarised in the publication Gemeinsam f\u00fcr den Frieden<\/em>. It is published once a year and supplements the video documentation of the diverse lecture and discussion events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in digital format, the Peace Forum 2021<\/strong> attracted great interest from a broad audience. Many renowned experts were welcomed to Osnabr\u00fcck and various current socio-political topics, crisis and conflict situations were examined, including specific challenges associated with climate change, the importance of freedom of opinion as a supporting and increasingly threatened pillar of our democracy and the intensification of social injustice in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic. The focal point discussion on the dramatic situation in Afghanistan, in which researchers from the University of Osnabr\u00fcck looked at the country’s development and future prospects, was particularly well received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yearbook <\/strong>Frieden und Wissenschaft<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The President of the University and the Lord Mayor of the City of Osnabr\u00fcck published the Peace Forum Yearbook from 1994 to 2020. It documented the events supplemented by other contributions on peace topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lecture and discussion events of 2019 are brought together in this edition under the title \u00bbEmotion, Sprache, Politik\u00ab This year, the series of events dealt in particular with problematic situations and dangers within the Federal Republic of Germany as well as in Europe. Changes and processes in society were examined with the involvement of renowned experts and different perspectives and positions. A special highlight was the keynote speech on the occasion of German Unity Day. Jean Asselborn, Luxembourg Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, delivered a glowing credo for a strong Europe. The future of Europe and the major challenges facing the European Union were the focus of his talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In various formats, the Peace Talks also dealt intensively with different topics that are closely linked to collective emotions and especially fears and concerns and have an influence on society and politics. These are problematic situations, some of which have been significantly exacerbated by the current COVID 19 pandemic and could become even more acute in the long term. The documentation of the panel and lecture events is supplemented accordingly by various expert contributions that build a bridge to the current crisis situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
